The autonomy page: tenant ceiling L2 ask first with L3 and L4 locked, and the data-gap chaser's level per action
Autonomy: the tenant ceiling at L2 (ask first) with L3 and L4 locked, and an agent’s level per action and line — here the data-gap chaser, at L1 Draft on every line.

Every agent action in InsightPlacement has a level. The level decides whether the agent only drafts, asks a person first, or (in principle) acts and tells. For a broker, the answer for anything that reaches a client, a carrier or a binder is fixed: a person decides. The dial exists so the practice can see that, prove it, and loosen it only where evidence says it is safe.

The level used for any action is the lowest of three: the agent’s level for that action (and line, if set), the action’s hard cap, and the tenant ceiling. In InsightPlacement every action — ordering loss runs, asking the client for data, approving a submission, adopting a plan, sending submissions, confirming quotes, selecting quotes, finalising a proposal, filing the affidavit, signing off, ordering binding — has a hard cap of L2. Whatever the dial says, the agent asks first.

Evidence, not opinion

Each answer a person gives to a prepared decision — accept, change, reject — is counted as agreement or disagreement with the agent. The autonomy page shows agreement and overrides over 30 days, per agent and action. The platform’s rule for moving an agent: it can move up a notch when people agree with at least 90% of 50 answers, and moves down at once below 70% of 20. Inside InsightPlacement “up” can only mean L1 to L2; L3 and L4 stay locked.

On the demo book the page reads “Nothing to measure yet” — nobody has answered the agents there. That is the honest state of a fresh install, and it is how it should start.

The ceiling and the switch

  • The tenant ceiling is set by configuration (PLACE_AGENTS_MAX_LEVEL, default L2), not by a screen; no agent acts above it.
  • Each agent has an on/off switch on the autonomy page; an agent switched off is skipped by Analyze.
  • Only practice leads open the autonomy page; for every other role it is not part of the menu.

Why not let it act?

A broker’s duty to the client does not delegate to software. Even a perfect comparison is advice; the selection, the proposal and the bind are acts of the broker. The product makes those acts faster to take and easier to evidence. It does not take them.
